Teacher + Administrator Spotlight

Beloved DCIS Baker teacher and new Assistant Principal Kevin Adams makes a great cover photo and story for the national teacher’s magazine NEA TODAY.

Congrats to Peggy Liu, DCIS Baker, for being our first DCIS Foundation teacher award. Peggy's application detailed her trip plan, a short film project, for her upcoming trip to China. Peggy is a AAPI Hero to her students. Read this essay from Ringo Hope.

Ms. Meg Zimmerman is the long-time Assistant Vice Principal at DCIS Fairmont. According to Meg, "Ever since we opened our doors, we have been a school supporting students in learning about the world around them, in striving to recognize inequities, and in helping our youth realize their ability to make positive change both now and as they become adults." Meg strives to fix inequities in education by helping to grow multilingual learners and encourage healthy student relationships. She is a stable and constant force in the hallways of DCIS Fairmont.

Meg adds, “What we do is critical. We can count on our youth to be the change we need in our world. That is what DCIS Fairmont focuses on every day.” So, how does Meg relax and re-energize? She is a huge fan of live music concerts all over the state. This gives Meg joy.

Past Assistant Vice Principal Ms. Courtney Wickham at DCIS Baker has been in education for 20+ years. She attended the University of Nebraska and has a graduate degree in Curriculum and Instruction. She served in the Peace Corps in Ukraine and taught middle school English in Turkey for 4 years (she bought a lot of rugs). Ms. Wickham is a true global citizen and has visited 63 countries. She spends her days supporting all the complexities of student travel and living the mission of DCIS. Her current DCIS projects include the American Exchange Project and Guatemala. Ms. Wickam is now the Principal of Morey Middle School in DPS.
