Impact
The DCIS Foundation helped send Sam Freeman to Japan last summer for an immersive 3-week educational program to learn about Japanese culture, language skills, and the legendary transportation system.
Our impact is immediate and measurable. It’s true. Educational travel increases multilingual abilities and cultural awareness, enriches connections to curriculum and learning, expands curiosity and motivation, improves confidence and independence, and strengthens purpose and worth in an ever-changing world. DCIS uses the FOUR DOMAINS of GLOBAL COMPETITENCE and the United Nations SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS as their curriculum guide.
Fundraising is the cornerstone of our programs and allows students of any background to access the benefits of educational travel. In the past year, our fundraising has not kept up with our needs. Competition for donor attention and funds are high and there is work to be done to help us tell the story of our direct and local impact. Click here for more RESOURCES & INSIGHT.
Hundreds of elementary school students in DPS have benefited from our grants as they venture to local attractions like museums, zoos, and nature experiences. Donors make it possible for all students to be included and engaged.

Foreign Language Curriculum
Just 20% of K-12 students in America are taking a foreign language (Source: EdWeek). Some students in DPS already speak two languages and might be learning a third. Imagine the impact that intercultural learning and travel can have and how it could change a young person’s trajectory.
